Five local area comedy groups have been working together to put on the first annual D.C. Comedy Festival from April 10-15.
Local area comedians soon will be showcasing the very best of the D.C. Comedy Scene which, until now, has largely been out of the limelight. D.C. Comedy Festival will be happening at nine different venues which will provide the local community the chance to catch a ton of performances by nationally known performers as well as younger talents. Each venue will in all welcome more than 70 professional joke tellers, new and seasoned, guaranteed to tickle your funny bone over the course of the five-day festival.
Comedy fans may recognize some of the names in the lineup such as that of D.C. native Tony Woods who was an original member of Russell Simmons’ wildly popular Def Comedy Jam on HBO. He was also on P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy and has also appeared on Comedy Central, NBC, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Last Comic Standing, and A&E. Several other comics in the lineup have also appeared on Last Comic Standing and various cable networks which include Tru T.V., BET, MTV, Showtime and more.
