Basketball's second best shooting guard, Keldon Johnson, is set to visit College Park at the end of September. Other big-name schools are also extending offers to the young star.
Keldon Johnson, the 17th best ranked player of his class and the second-best shooting guard in the nation, will soon be visiting University of Maryland’s College Park Campus. The last of coach Mark Turgeon’s 2018 recruiting targets, Johnson is also the biggest and most sought after and has already been offered a scholarship by Kentucky while other schools are certain to follow suit if he remains uncommitted. Earlier this summer, Johnson attended a team basketball camp in College Park and at that time he decided he would return to College Park for a visit. In addition to his scheduled September 23 visit, Johnson has also scheduled visits at Kentucky, Florida State and Texas while a handful of other schools are interested, including Georgetown and Oregon. The six-foot-six, 205-pound Virginia native can propel the University of Maryland basketball program to the top of the Big Ten and NCAA rankings. On the Nike EYBL circuit, Johnson led his team and averaged 20.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 51.6 percent from the field. Johnson is a potent scorer who would make Maryland’s number eight ranked 2018 recruiting class even stronger, especially if he will be joined by center Moses Brown, who also will visit College Park toward the end of September.
