RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) - Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered flags in Virginia to be flown at half staff Thursday, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day .

In accordance with the authority vested in me as Governor, I hereby order that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. We honor the law enforcement officers who have fallen in the line of duty and recognize their sacrifices, as well as the hardship and loss suffered by the families of those fallen officers.

I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Thursday, May 15, 2025 and remain at half-staff until sunset.
