A female judge stunned a courtroom after she let a teenager who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death walk free. Jahara Malik, 17, of Miami, Florida , was arrested on Tuesday after her boyfriend, Yahkeim 'Keimo' Lollar, 18, was fatally stabbed in the chest just outside his apartment complex on December 20, 2024. On Friday she was moved to adult criminal court in Miami-Dade County and charged as an adult, but the following day she was released on a $50,000 bond by 11th Circuit Court Judge Stacy D. Glick. During the hearing, Glick said that Malik - seen in a green safety smock and white face mask - isn't 'necessarily a flight risk' and 'I'm allowing her to get out.' 'The purpose of bond, as we all know, is to assure that the person will appear in court. She didn't leave the scene after she just stabbed somebody, and that person died,' Glick added. Glick also noted that while at the scene, Malik 'cooperated with the police' after calling 911. The judge said that on top of paying the $50,000 to release Malik from jail, she will have to wear an ankle bracelet. She is due back in court on Tuesday for her arraignment hearing, court records, obtained by DailyMail.com, show. Surveillance footage revealed Malik dropping a knife near the crime scene just after she and Lollar were 'horseplaying,' the teen told detectives, according to an arrest report obtained by WPLG. Malik also told police that she usually keeps pepper spray on her for safety reasons, but that day she brought a knife instead after failing to find the mace. Lollar, a former running back for Miami Northwestern Senior High School, was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died, investigators said. His death was ruled a homicide, according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office. Malik's attorney Larry Handfield argued that his client stayed at the scene and tried to help her injured boyfriend. 'She turned herself in she tried to render first aid. 'She cooperated fully,' Handfield said, according to CBS News Miami. 'It should have remained in juvenile. However, the law allows the state of Florida allows you to direct file. Which means you take juveniles as young as 14, 15, 16 and you try them as an adult.' Since he died, Lollar's grieving family have been fighting for justice. They were also present in the courtroom over the weekend. His mother Nathalie Jean told the outlet that they are not happy with the judge's decision to release Malik. 'I want justice. That would at least ease the pain a little bit. I shouldn't have to be fighting for my son's justice,' Jean said. Meanwhile, Handfield said that his death 'was not an intentional act,' adding that 'evidence will support that.' Jean said that her son was having relationship problems just before his death. The exact problems are unclear. During a vigil for Lollar in December, Jean said of her late son: 'His life was taken away for no reason at 17, and we all know he had a bright future ahead of him.' 'By somebody just playing, they took my boy’s life. That’s what they said. They was playing,' his father, Darveed Lollar added. His family has created a Change.org page in honor of Lollar, asking the public to sign a petition to urge the court to prosecute Malik for his death. 'Our hearts are heavy with the painful fact of the brutal murder of our beloved family member, Yahkeim Lollar also known as “Keimo”. Tragically, the killer (Jahara Malik) walks free, yet she must not remain unpunished. We demand immediate action from the authorities,' the page read. 'Yahkeim was a valued member of our family, whose life was unjustly cut short. His loved ones are consumed with grief and this sorrow is only amplified by the lack of progress in his case. The continual denial of justice deeply scars us, and prolongs the trauma of our hearts.' As of Monday, more than 1,000 people signed the petition. 'The justice system failed our son today, and we are going to keep fighting. We are not going to stop fighting,' Jean told WPLG. Malik is facing one count of manslaughter with a deadly weapon and could be sentenced to 10-30 years in prison for the felony. DailyMaill.com contacted Malik's attorney for comment.
