GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - On this episode of Florida Man Adventures we are here in Ocala checking outs some fine art, at the Appleton Art Museum, let’s take a look.

The Appleton Art Museum is loaded with unique and diverse art form all over the world, with some piece dating back thousands of years. The museum was founded by Arthur Appleton, and is now a managed by the College of Central Florida. People from all over the world visit the museum, but the museum likes to bring art to you.

“We have about 60,000 people come through the museum every year. But we also do a lot of outreach. We serve tens of thousands of people out in the community every year,” said Victoria Billig, assistant director at the Appleton Art Museum.

The Appleton is always working on new exhibits and have new exhibits that celebrates a special part of Florida.

“We also have a new show that’s going up right now called Wild Wetlands and that’s all work from the permanent collection, that really centers on Florida’s wetlands.,” said Billig.

All are welcome at the Appleton Museum they have loads of classes for both kids and adults.

“We have the free first Saturday program every month. You can visit the museum from 10 to 5pm for free. We also do other special programming that day. We usually try to have film or guest speaker, said Billig.

With loads of art classroom it is easy to let the imagination run wild and make some really cool art.

That’s are art space and it’s full of really great activity stations. Our education team is phenomenal, and they create custom stations that are related to the works we have on view, or just work from the permanent collection.”

I suited up and entered the clay lab to give pottery a spin, I quickly get to working the clay in an effort to make a cereal bowl, which I think came out really swell. The hardest thing about this clay class is not falling for Donna the instructor.

If you want to see great art and create your own at the same time the Appleton Museum of Art, is a wonderful place to visit, for any art lover.
