Good morning and happy Monday. We are starting off this morning with temperatures in the 50s and 60s under mostly clear skies. Some patchy fog is also possible this morning. Today is dry but we have storm chances overnight that have the potential to become strong to severe.

Dry, quiet Monday

Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s with sunshine throughout Monday.

Severe storm chances in Missouri

Storms will move in from the west late overnight into very early Tuesday morning. These storms are expected to weaken but will still bring a severe weather threat to mid-MO. The biggest question is how much energy, or fuel for strong storms, will be around? I think enough for strong storms to continue from the west.

The KOMU 8 First Alert Weather Team is in storm mode 2 (0 to 5 scale) because there could be issues and you’ll want to stay updated. Strong, damaging winds will be the main concern. The threat of tornadoes is also possible. Flooding will be a concern with heavy rainfall in the stronger storms on top of already saturated grounds. Hail is the lowest threat. The timing for mid-MO is 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Have a way to receive warnings that will wake you up through the night.

Another round of storms

Tuesday looks dry with highs near 80. We have another round of strong to severe storms on Wednesday. More to come on that.
