LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball’s alumni team for The Basketball Tournament this year will be coached by a familiar face.

Sherron Collins, a member of the Jayhawks’ national championship team in 2008, will serve as the head coach for JHX Hoops. The team is co-hosting the Kansas City Regional from July 19-23 with the Kansas State alumni team Purple Reign. TBT announced the news regarding Collins on Tuesday, on the social media platform X.

Collins’ roster currently comprises of Nick Timberlake, Lagerald Vick and Cliff Alexander. Timberlake’s and Vick’s additions were announced earlier this month, with Alexander’s following not long after. The TBT release revealing Alexander’s addition outlined that more roster announcements are coming in the weeks ahead.

Should JHX Hoops win the Kansas City Regional it will move on to the quarterfinals of the TBT on July 28. The semifinals follow July 31, and $1 million championship game Aug. 3. Collins isn’t far removed from another championship, as he coached Oak Park High School to a Class 6 state title in Missouri this year.
