HAWAII COUNTY, Hawaii (Island News) -- Former Kalaheo and UH Basketball star Alika Smith pleaded “not guilty” in court on Wednesday.

Smith was charged with theft—accused of stealing more than $3,000 from parents of the students he coached at Waiakea High School.

Smith allegedly pocketed the money and then used a check to pay a company $500 to book a hotel for the team. But that check bounced back and he never paid the balance.

Smith is currently out after posting the $25,000 bond and he is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 25, 2024.
