WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - An official has stated that the Fort Worth Court of Criminal Appeals is reverting the James Staley conviction and ordering a new trial to be held.

According to the Wichita County District Attorney’s Office, they will be petitioning the Fort Worth Court of Criminal Appeals to reinstate the conviction.

On March 13, 2023, James Staley III was found guilty of capital murder in the death of Jason Wilder McDaniel and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
