Founders Federal Credit Union is opening a new branch off Garners Ferry Road near Target in Columbia. The Lancaster-based credit union is renovating a former Truist Bank office at 6098 Garners Ferry Road and plans to open there in early May. The upcoming branch will offer the same features as other Founders locations, with about a half a dozen employees assisting customers across various financial services, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, auto and mortgage loans. Founders' president Keith Wilson said the credit union remains focused on opening new branches, even as other financial institutions shift to online banking and other technology-driven services. The new branch, coming to the Shoppes at Woodhill shopping center, will be located in the same plaza as Target, Barnes & Noble and Starbucks.
