TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The next 3 days will mainly be in the mid 80s to low 90s with the highest probability of the low 90s being tomorrow. We’re also monitoring the next best chance of storms Saturday afternoon through Saturday night with a few lingering storms Sunday morning. Temperatures will also stay fairly consistent next week with most of the week in the low 90s for highs. The biggest reason we have to take this weather pattern on a day by day basis is because each round of storms could have an impact on how the atmosphere recovers for the next round. Not only how strong or severe the storms may be but also the location of where the storms will develop. For the most part models are trending toward most areas getting in the range of 0.50”-1.50” of rain the next 8 days….as always there will be several spots that are outside of the range but at least we are talking about rain chances. The forecast for the summer was for a dry season and so far we’re lucking out with several rain chances this month. This could certainly end quickly for July and August where we may be begging for at least chances in the forecast so we’ll take what we can get! Today: Decreasing Clouds. While a brief shower/storm can’t be ruled out anytime, for the most part it is expected to be dry. Highs in the mid-upper 80s. Winds light and variable. Tonight: Mostly Clear. Lows in the mid 60s. Calm wind. Tomorrow: Increasing Clouds. Isolated showers/storms anytime after 2pm. Highs in the mid 80s to low 90s. Winds SE 5-10 mph. Sunday (Father’s Day): A few lingering showers/storms are possible otherwise mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the mid-upper 80s. Winds S 5-10 mph. Next week continues the active weather pattern and similar to the weekend, storms will likely be impacting the area overnight with low chances that storms could impact the late afternoon/early morning hours. No particular day you need to cancel any outdoor plans at this time. Latest indications are that Tuesday night may have a relatively higher severe weather risk.
