The highest year-round music venue in the U.S. sets itself apart.

It was packed house for Railroad Earth’s first of two shows at the 10 Mile Music Hall in Frisco. It was also the same night as the Super Blood Wolf Moon Lunar Eclipse. When Railroad Earth did a cover of Elephant Revival’s ‘Sing to the Mountain’ to end their first set, it had us all literally howling at the moon.

Since opening its doors Halloween weekend in 2018 with back-to-back shows of Leftover Salmon, owners Todd Altschuler and Keegan Casey have been turning out the music experiences every week for Summit County. At 9,097 feet, the music hall also happens to be the highest year-round music venue in the U.S.!

Altschuler and Casey owned and operated the Barkley Ballroom in Frisco for six years before taking the leap to build a new venue just down the street. The opportunity to build from the ground up was not only an opportunity to create a better venue space, but offer features and services older venues aren’t often able to accommodate.

One of its most appreciated features is the impressive number of bathroom stalls (which are also insanely clean) that will help you easily get you back to the show in no time. Getting your drinks is even easier. Through the app Noble: Easy Order, you can order and pay for your drink then receive a text message when it’s ready to be picked up at a designated area of the bar. However, Altschuler says it really hasn’t been needed as the bar set-up has proved to be super efficient for drink service. Add this to a water bottle fill station and a phone charging station and the little inconveniences once associated with seeing shows gets long overdue attention here.

The venue has a 750-standing or 200-seated capacity, making the space function well for jam bands to jazz performances. Wedding and special events are making use of the space and Altschuler and Casey are working closely with the community groups to host fundraisers and other events in the near future.

Altschuler says the response from the community has been amazing. Locals enjoy the accessibility to see national touring bands right in their backyard. Musicians appreciate the hometown feel while having a larger space and tech to stream their performances via TourGig.

Come summer, the venue will offer lunch and dinner service provided by Moe’s BBQ on top its 1,000 square foot patio space, which offers views of the Tenmile Mountain Range.

Seriously, what’s not to love about the 10 Mile Music Hall? 'Cause I haven’t found it yet.
