From mummies and skeletons to costumes and candy, Halloween fun is in the bag across Oklahoma.

Halloween officially arrives on Oct. 31 , and several of the Sooner State's top museums, attractions and venues are offering a variety pack of family-friendly tricks and treats to celebrate the pinnacle of the spooky season.

HalloWest, OKC

Youngsters are invited to dress in their best Western or Halloween get-up for the second annual celebration inside the museum's Prosperity Junction , a life-size cow town that will transport the whole family back to the old West. Hands-on activities will include outdoor fun in the Town Square with fast-draw target practice and Western dancing, plus face painting, fall-themed crafts, candy and candy alternatives.

Children 12 and younger receive free admission. General admission tickets are $20 with advance purchase and $25 at the door. Museum members pay $15 with advance purchase and $20 at the door.

Halloween Drive-in Double Feature, Oklahoma City

For the final weekend of its 2024 season, the venerable drive-in theater is showing two family-friendly seasonal classics for the price of one: the witchy tale "Hocus Pocus" at 7:30 p.m. and the beloved animated spectacle "The Nightmare Before Christmas" at 9:30 p.m. The Winchester is a cash-only business with an on-site ATM. Tickets are available at the gate and are $10 for adults and children 11 and older, $5 for youngsters ages 3 to 10, and free for children younger than 3.

Parents and guardians can bring their children to Bricktown for a free event that includes spooky tunes, roaming characters and trick-or-treating at participating businesses. Attendees can pick up an event map from the information booth on the Mickey Mantle Plaza of the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Trick-or-treaters must be younger than 14 and in costume, or with a guardian, to receive free candy and giveaways.

Halloween with Factory Obscura, OKC

The OKC artist collective's Halloween festivities will begin with participants gathering for Factory Obscura's annual tradition The Procession, where the collective and the community join forces to "carry light into the night together." People are encouraged to don illuminated costumes and ring bells and chimes as the 7 p.m. Procession marches through Automobile Alley. There will be outdoor performances along the route by Planet 9, Changing FrEQuencies, Jarvix, Hannah Helbig, Hooplahoma, Sami Wilkins and Kae Neal.

Factory Obscura's immersive indoor Mix-Tape experience will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and costume contests are scheduled all day.

stepmom kick-off concert for Factory Obscura's 'Profitopia'

Factory Obscura's newest temporary art installation is a collaboration with the OKC orchestral dream punk band stepmom . The band's lead singer, songwriter and guitarist, Lindsey Cox, is the talent booker and events manager for Factory Obscura.

"Profitopia: A stepmom Immersive Experience" reimagines the traditional EP launch, transforming stepmom's forthcoming EP into a singular multi-sensory journey. “Profitopia” will be open to the public Nov. 1-Dec. 8, with a live performance by stepmom to kick off the festivities on Halloween night.

ArtAfloatOKC, the same organization that puts on the Showboat Concert Series , brings a special narrated 40-minute tour aboard the Bricktown Water Taxi that focuses on the eerie history of Oklahoma. The spooky boat rides on the Bricktown Canal were created in cooperation with Preservation Oklahoma Inc. , a private nonprofit membership organization dedicated to promoting, supporting and coordinating historic preservation activities across the state.

Fall Festival at Orr Family Farm, OKC

This annual event provides youngsters with a chance to walk a well-lit path in the woods to collect candy and visit life-size scenes from classic storybooks.

Tickets are $15 per child and $5 per adult, and everyone going down the trail must have a ticket. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and there is a limit of 600 child tickets per night.

Halloween at the Museum, Edmond

Tex and Jesse — the museum's animatronic characters — will give a special performance at this third annual event , which also will feature spooky games and art projects. Entry is $1 per child.

Enchanted Woodland, Shawnee

The festivities include free inflatables for all ages, a pumpkin decorating contest starting at 1 p.m., costume contests beginning at 2 p.m., the Jacob's Ladder Challenge by Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics, spooky sounds from KGFF Radio and live performances from local musicians by Guitar Vault. Plus, youngsters can explore a fire truck, ambulance and police patrol car.

The first 250 mummy-clad participants will receive a special treat at the Visit Shawnee tent, and the first 100 kids to arrive after 1 p.m. will receive a free ice cream treat. Vendors will be on hand with more than 500 giveaway items, including Halloween tattoos, spider rings and other fun treats.

Mummy Day, Shawnee

One of the oldest museums in Oklahoma boasts an eclectic collection, including the only ancient Egyptian mummies in the Sooner State. The museum shows how wrapped up it is in its mummies with this annual celebration featuring mummy-themed art activities like scarab bracelets, mummy masks, popsicle stick mummies and Egyptian collars. Other activities include face painting, mummy games, caricatures and activities like learning the “walk like an Egyptian."

Admission will be free to the museum, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free gift bag. The Mission Monks food truck will be onsite selling treats for lunch and snacktime.

Museum of Osteology's Halloween Extended Hours, OKC

Billed as America's only skeleton museum , the Museum of Osteology is always in the spooky season spirit, as it displays more than 450 real skeletons and skulls at any given time. On Halloween night, tickets are $10 tickets starting at 5 p.m., children 2 and younger are admitted free, candy will be available while supplies last, and visitors can get a pic with a “Skelfie” selfie station.

Museum of Osteology's Halloween Forensic Nights



When: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and Oct. 30.

The Museum of Osteology hosts Halloween-theme editions of its usual Forensic Nights, where attendees can explore what forensic anthropologists, law enforcement officers and investigators can learn by examining human skeletal remains. Each table will be assigned a mystery case, and through a hands-on investigation, learn to “read” the features of a human skull to determine the subjects' age, sex, physical trauma and/or disease. The event uses replica skulls from real homicides, accidents and suicides, so personal discretion is advised.

Forensic Night are for attendees ages 16 and older, and costumes are encouraged at the Halloween events.

Archaeology Day, Norman

No bones about it, this event celebrates the spooky season as well as International Archaeology Day. Hands-on activities include flintknapping, atlatl throwing demonstrations , arts and crafts, sandbox excavations and pottery making, plus guests will have the rare opportunity to participate in behind-the-scenes collection tours that showcase artifacts and objects typically not accessible to the public.

Activities are free with the University of Oklahoma museum's general admission, which is $12 for adults and $7 for children.

PhilBOO Weekend, Tulsa
