On Tuesday, Frontier Airlines announced the creation of seven new nonstop routes to-and-from Colorado Springs.
Seven new nonstop routes from Colorado Springs to Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington DC will begin this summer. Flights to Florid locations - Fort Myers and Tampa Bay - will begin seasonal service in the fall of 2017. In 2013, Frontier announced that it was pulling out of the Colorado Springs Airport. But with the residential and commercial growth of Southern Colorado, the company has decided to re-invest in the community. "Thanks to the terrific support of the entire Colorado Springs community as well as the surrounding area after we added Orlando and Phoenix service, we're able to announce seven new seasonal cities at the same time today," remarked Frontier President and CEO Barry Biffle. Colorado Springs' Mayor John Suthers celebrated the announcement of seven new nonstop routes. We continue to be extremely pleased with the growth at the Colorado Springs Airport and the commitment displayed to our city by Frontier Airlines. As our air service expands, we want to be sure to encourage all Southern Colorado residents to 'look before you book - and fly COS whenever possible.' It's up to us to support the investment of Frontier and other carriers in our community."The City of Colorado Springs has launched the "Look Before You Book" campaign to show area residents how convenient and easy it is to fly out of the Colorado Springs Airport. In November and December of 2016, the airport offered long-term parking for just $1 a day as part of this education campaign. The Mayor's office sees this increased engagement as one reason behind Frontier Airline's decision to open up the seven new nonstop routes.
Frontier reports that their introductory base fares for these new routes will be under $100.
COS to/from LAX $39
