The Fun City Chorus recently hosted their Scholarship Awards Ceremony. This year's scholarship winners are Abigail Hendrick of Hot Springs High School and Gina Bennett of Lake Hamilton High School. "Each year, the chorus honors former outstanding members of the chorus by naming scholarships for them. This year's honorees are Morgan Weston and Bill James. Their wives were both in attendance with approximately 50 other friends and supporters of the winners," a news release said. Hendrick graduated with a 4.00-plus GPA and plans to attend Wichita State University, the release said. "She intends to study music composition and participate in jazz piano and the WSU Symphonic Band. Hendrick is an outstanding pianist and also plays several other instruments. She is a songwriter and is currently working with a Grammy-nominated producer to further her music horizons," the release said. Bennett graduated with a 3.91 GPA and will attend Henderson State University. "Gina is an outstanding trumpet player and has received many state and regional awards and honors as a member of the Lake Hamilton Power Band, including performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade," the release said. She plans to participate in the HSU Showband of Arkansas, the Henderson Jazz Band and the Concert Ensemble. "The Fun City Chorus is very proud of our winners and of it's scholarship program, which has now awarded over $30,000 in scholarships over the years," the release said.
