A weekend funeral service was overflowing with family, friends and airline employees of an American Airlines flight attendant who died last month in a plane crash. Danasia Elder’s funeral service was held Saturday at United City Methodist Church in Charlotte. "That was the main thing to support the family and stand in solidarity. We do this everyday and truly we are united by wings,” said Tonya McCray, a fellow American Airlines employee. Employees from American Airlines, Delta, Southwest and more showed up to remember Elder, who died in the Jan. 29 crash between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Airlines passenger jet in Washington, D.C. "It took this for us to come together but we really, really showed up for her and I hope that her family knows and her children especially they just gained thousands of aunties and unless they don't even know,” said Southwest crew member Erica Blakely. Fun stories from family and friends highlighted Elder’s service, remembering the little things she used to do to make them laugh. “Mommy, me and Darian are still going to go to Chipotle and be big,” one of her daughters said. “[We’ll order] extra sour cream just like how she liked it." Elder’s stories will be something people remember while flight crews work each day to keep passengers safe. "We do it everyday. We love it,” said Delta employee Renise Alexander. “We have so much fun, but at the end of the day, we are safety professionals and that's what were there for. And we will carry her forever. She is so loved."
