Come out and celebrate Mother’s Day with friends, family and fellow community members at this year’s DC Bike Ride with fun, food and entertainment.

The DC Bike ride is a not to be missed fun community event, a 20-mile ride complemented by food, fun and entertainment. Participants of the event get to experience the city’s most stunning and awe inspiring sights along the National Mall. The course provides views of the memorials and monuments up close and concludes within steps of the US Capitol Building.  The DC Bike Ride is the city’s only car-free and closed-road bike ride, so participants have the roads all to themselves as they wind their way through the city streets on an epic journey. DC Bike Ride The DC Bike Ride is a family friendly event certain to provide an outdoor adventure and memories for years to come.  While the 20 mile trek may sound like somewhat of a challenge, don’t be fooled, the event is not a race.  Participants can and are encouraged to enjoy the ride, sights and sounds at their own pace and leisure.  Awaiting riders at the finish line will be food and entertainment.
There will also be great entertainment along the ride. At the 2.5 mile mark in Hains Point, the Eastern Senior High School Drumline will be providing musical entertainment; at Ohio Drive and Potomac Freeway at the 5.5 and 7.5 mile marks riders will experience the sounds of the DuPont Brass Band; Red Bull MXT DJ cranks tunes at the 15 mile mark at the 14th street bridge, and Batala plays at the 18 mile mark along Maine Avenue Southwest.  The Finish Festival begins at 9:30 a.m., when local spin master l DJ Sudge will kick things off. From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the party band Jeff From Accounting will provide the musical entertainment, and closer and hip hop legend Biz Markie will DJ from 11:30 a. m. to 1:00 p.m.  There also will be a post-ride Yoga Session at 10:30 a.m. hosted by KIND Healthy Snacks and the owner of YogaVibez Edgewater and sunriseSUP Kate Grove.  Activities in the Kids Zone include a balloon artists, a juggler, face painting, carnival games and cotton candy.  REI also plans to set up their portable mountain bike track.  Kids of all ages can participate in the bike ride, and ages 3-7 get to ride for free. DC Bike Ride The event is also for a good cause - portions of the proceeds will benefit DC’s Vision Zero Campaign and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. In addition to seeing the sights and fun activities, the event helps to make the city’s streets safer. DC Bike Ride If you wish to participate but don’t have a bike or the one you have isn’t in good shape, bike rentals will be available with easy and convenient pick up and drop off. Group discounts are available for parties of eight or more.  Tickets are $70 for ages 8 and up, and participants must register online and pick up their Rider Identification Packet prior to the event and also fill out and submit a participant waiver form.   The race begins along the Potomac just south of the Lincoln Memorial and concludes on 301 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest.  To register and for more information, visit http://dcbikeride.com.
