In 1999, the Glenwood Caverns and Adventure Park (GCAP) opened as America’s only mountaintop theme park. It’s been 25 years and to celebrate, the park is kicking off its summer season this year with a party, a news release from the Caverns stated.

On May 18, attend the “Party Like It’s 1999” themed event. Gondola rides will be $10 that day, from 4-9 p.m., the release stated.

BJ the DJ will be playing music from 5-7 p.m. and then Paizley Park, the Prince tribute band, will take over rocking the stage from 7-9 p.m. Enjoy specialty themed and discounted food, beverage offerings, giveaways, raffles, social media contests and swag items, the release stated.

“We never could have imagined how Glenwood Caverns and the Adventure Park have grown over the past 25 years,” said founder and owner Steve Beckley. “It’s been amazing to build the only mountaintop theme park in America and we are excited to celebrate this milestone with our treasured guests.”

GCAP will be celebrating the entire summer with a special 20% off discounted ticket promotion, which will allow guests to enjoy not only a Funday pass, but also give full access to Iron Mountain Hot Springs , which includes the new WorldSprings adults-only section, when purchased together, the release stated.

Along with the May event, the park’s annual Music on the Mountain series will start on June 1, featuring eight weeks of performances, and donations to local nonprofits. Along with this, guests can get a free gondola ride to GCAP and to the top of Iron Mountain during the month of June as part of the celebration, the release stated.

GCAP will also celebrate the National Natural Landmark designation of the historic Fairy Caves: from June 8 to Aug. 11, guests can see the caves in a whole new light – black light. Guests will be given a UV Blacklight Flashlight to use during the interactive tour. Illuminating the caves and showing colors only seen by these lights will help guests learn about different glows and afterglows caused by the minerals in the caves. The 40 minute tours will take place at three time slots in the late afternoon and tickets are just $20, the release stated.

In 1999, when the park first opened to the public, their offerings were limited to cave tours. Twenty five years and more than one million visitors later, GCAP features a scenic gondola ride, thrill rides like the Defiance roller coaster, giant canyon swing, family friendly attractions, events, live music, shopping, dining and the famed Alpine Coaster, which features a new look to celebrate the occasion: new green sleds, the release stated.
