Google is expanding in Northern Virginia, bringing tons more job opportunities.
Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced on Wednesday in a blog post that the company will be doubling its workforce by opening new offices and data centers in 14 states, including Northern Virginia. The company will invest $13 billion throughout 2019 in the new locations across the United States.
"Today we’re announcing over $13 billion in investments throughout 2019 in data centers and offices across the U.S., with major expansions in 14 states," Sundar Pichai wrote. "These new investments will give us the capacity to hire tens of thousands of employees, and enable the creation of more than 10,000 new construction jobs in Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Virginia. With this new investment, Google will now have a home in 24 total states, including data centers in 13 communities. 2019 marks the second year in a row we’ll be growing faster outside of the Bay Area than in it."
He did not specify whether Google was receiving tax incentives to expand their operations.
You can expect an influx of jobs in the near future so be sure to keep an eye out on Indeed, Monster, Glassdoor, and Google's job site. The company currently houses offices and data centers in Reston, Leesburg, and Ashburn, Virginia, but did not specify the location of the new facilities.

Google's new expansion is an attempt to make their highest paying jobs (such as engineers, sales, and marketing) feel more accessible to the community, as they are currently only available in the Bay Area.
