AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Columbia County student got in trouble over an inappropriate comment Friday. The first-grader told others on a school bus that a firearm was in their backpack, Blue Ridge Elementary parents were told in a letter. Columbia County School District police were immediately notified. Upon further investigation, there was no firearm in the student’s bag. No threat was made. “However, we take incidents such as these extremely seriously and will investigate fully,” the Columbia County School District said in the letter to parents. “The student is being held accountable according to the code of conduct.”
