WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - After back-to-back days with severe weather across the state, today will be storm-free, windy, and cooler. Underneath mostly sunny skies, wake-up temperatures in the 40s and 50s will climb into the middle to upper 70s as northwest winds between 20 and 30 mph occasionally gust to 40 mph.

Wednesday and Thursday will be like today, mostly sunny to partly cloudy and mild with highs in the lower to middle 70s. However, winds will be much lighter, generally less than 20 mph.

Storm chances come back to central and eastern Kansas on Friday, followed by statewide storm chances on Saturday night into Sunday morning. While moderate to heavy rain is possible, the severe threat is low with both events.

Looking ahead… we should dry-out just in time for the holiday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower to middle 70s on Memorial Day. The remainder of the work week looks quiet with a slow warming trend as temperatures eventually climb back into the 80s.
