6 Pop Girls to Dress Up As!
The pop girlies have been absolutely killing it recently! From those who seem famous forever, like Taylor Swift, to stars whose careers have taken off more recently, like Chappell Roan, they dominate pop culture. Beyond their incredible talent, the pop girlies also have incredible signature looks. That makes them a really fun option to dress as for your Halloween costume. Let's look at how you can create a costume inspired by your favorite pop princess.
*Try not to get too caught up in specifics. You can pull ideas from various looks or general vibes rather than replicating a look exactly. If you can, that's awesome, but don't feel like you need to.
Chappell Roan
Chappell has been in the industry for a while, but she's been absolutely blown up lately. So much so, in fact, that the fame has become a bit overwhelming for the young star. (Side note: please be normal toward celebrities. They are people). In addition to her insane vocal talent, she also has an iconic drag-inspired look. She actually says that what she does is drag (it's not just for men, ya know?). Her stage persona is a costume in itself. You can have a lot of fun with this one. Paint your face white and go all out with dramatic makeup looks. If you have red hair, you're already one step ahead. If not, grab a wig or dye it if you're already searching for a new look. For the outfit, you'll also want to think costume-y and dramatic. Check out this dress for something similar to her NPR Tiny Desk Concert look. Complete the look with a "Midwest Princess" sash and a tiara.
Sabrina Carpenter
I've become a big fan of Sabrina lately. I love her music, and her fashion is my vibe. It's super girly, cutesy, and Barbie/Polly Pocket-coded. Think mini dresses and skirts, hearts, chunky heels, and bright colors (mostly). I don't know if I'm going to be dressing up for Halloween this year, but if I do, I want to be Sabrina. If you're having difficulty saying goodbye to summer (like me), go for a look from the beachy "Espresso" music video. This swimsuit is a pretty solid-looking dupe for the brown one she wears. You can't forget about the iconic bangs! Try a clip-in or a full wig, or go ahead and get some bangs at your next haircut (but don't blame me if you hate it). There are also tons of TikTok videos of girls trying out her makeup look.
Taylor Swift
As we all know, Taylor Swift has tons of eras you can draw inspiration from. You can even go for an Era's Tour-inspired fit. For something a little more casual, you can print words on a white T-shirt (or check out this one) and pair it with shorts and a black fedora for the Red look. For a little more glitz and glam, this sequin bodysuit gives off a similar vibe to her iconic Lover bodysuit.
Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia's aesthetic is a bit more pop-punk. She's a little edgy and a little girly, and it works really well. Think black, purple, fishnets, and glitter. Check out this two-piece set that resembles one of her tour outfits. Or, you could be a little silly (and super cute) and cover your face in stickers!
Billie Eilish
Comfy queens, Billie is your girl this Halloween. Any baggy T-shirt and pants or shorts should do. Complete the look with a hat (a baseball cap or a beanie will work) and glasses, which she's been wearing a lot lately. This costume is also great because you likely already have many of these pieces.
Britney Spears
I love Britney! Although she no longer performs or records, she will always be a pop princess. She also has a lot of iconic looks from which to pull. While it's pretty popular to dress like her in the "Baby One More Time" video (and a super cute look), there's so much else to play with for a Britney costume! Another fun option is her iconic denim AMAs look. This denim dress could be a great option, paired with a crystal chain belt, crystal choker, and denim purse. You can even have a man dress up as a trash can to be her counterpart, Justin Timberlake. (I kid, I kid).
Today's stars all have their own special style. So, you will have a blast if you want to be comfy and cool like Billie Eilish or a drag queen like Chappell Roan. The possibilities are endless when it comes to channeling your favorite artists! The costume is also a perfect excuse to listen to your artist all night because you don't really need to have "Thriller" on repeat, do you?
