COLUMBIA -- Archer Schnieders, Dawson Schnieders and Burke Bauer shot well enough Monday to qualify for state during the Class 5 District 2 boys golf tournament at Columbia Country Club.

Archer Schnieders earned all-district honors for Helias, taking third place out of 74 golfers with a 4-over 75. Liberty: Wentzville’s Cole Packingham was the district champion with a 2-under 69 and Marquette’s Thomas Shuert was runner-up with a 73.

The top 13 individuals plus ties received an all-district medal.

Dawson Schnieders was next for Helias, tying for 15th place with a 77, while Bauer finished 21st by carding an 80.

Rounding out the Crusaders’ lineup were Grayson Moore and Jordan Shivers, who both tied for 25th place with an 82.

Helias took third place in the team standings with a score of 315. Marquette won the district title with a 303 and Lafayette: Wildwood was second with a 310, each automatically qualifying their teams for the Class 5 state tournament, which is next Monday and Tuesday at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.

Monday snapped a streak of 11 consecutive district championships won by Helias, which had four top-four finishes in the state during that run.

After removing player scores from the top two teams at districts, the remaining top 13 individuals -- plus ties -- advance to state. Moore and Shivers missed the cut by one stroke.
