The leprechauns are painting the streets green this weekend, so fasten your gold buckled shoes and shamrock out the door to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. Whether you’ll find happiness in a pint of Guinness or in an outing with the family, check out these five festive things to do around town this weekend.
Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
What: The 40th annual Springfield Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will travel through downtown Springfield on Saturday. This year’s theme is “Raise a Glass to the Irish Lass”, Grand Marshalled by Kylee Kazenzki of Virden, Illinois. Irish on her mother’s side and currently a student at Notre Dame University, last year, as a senior at Notre Dame, she made school history when she became the first female leprechaun to take the field at a Notre Dame football game.
More: For the first time in the Parade’s history as well, the parade has named a title sponsor. O’Shea Builders has agreed to become the Parade’s Title Sponsor this year as a celebration to mark their 125th as a business in the Springfield community.
Saint Patrick’s Day afterparty at Franny’s
What: Who likes corned beef and cabbage? Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at Franny’s with fresh food served all day.

Stained glass lucky shoe
What: Looking for a fun way to celebrate the holiday dry? Maybe the kids want to participate too in the fun with something bright and green. Down at B’s Creative Studio kids and anyone creative can make their own real stained-glass shoe and clover decoration to ring in the holiday. Guests will be guided through the process no matter what level of art ability they have, and will be able to take home their piece of art.
