Class 3A Regionals

At Southeast

Logan Daberkow delivered a walk-off single that drove in Toby Basden with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Spartans advanced.

Southeast (14-20) plays No. 1 seed Chatham Glenwood (19-8) in the Jacksonville Regional semifinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Basden started the eighth with a double and went to third on a Lanphier error. That led to Daberkow’s game-winning hit.

Shortstop/pitcher Tim Herrington threw one hitless inning for the win. He relieved starter Braedyn Pittman, who pitched seven innings. Pittman struck out 11, walked two and allowed six hits and two runs — none earned.

Southeast took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Brayden Twist RBI single that scored Herrington. Lanphier evened the game in the third on an RBI sacrifice fly by Ethan Bietsch. The Lions took a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Caidge Smith scored on a wild pitch. Southeast’s Miles Leininger drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to tie the score at two apiece after six innings.

Herrington, Twist and Carter Murphy finished with two hits apiece for Southeast. Ethan Murphy had a hit, scored a run and walked twice.

Reliever Luke Powell was the losing pitcher for Lanphier (1-26). He allowed four hits, one run (none earned) with two strikeouts and no walks in one inning. Kaimen Smith pitched six innings in the starting role. He gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) to go with nine strikeouts and two walks. Kane Baskett finished 4-for-4 in the leadoff spot.
