Penn State football fans could not have asked for much more from James Franklin’s Nittany Lions in 2024.

PSU finished the regular season 11-1, went toe to toe with unbeaten Oregon in the Big Ten title game, and the 12-2 Lions will play 12-1 Boise State in a college playoff quarterfinal next week. Penn State, a 38-10 winner over SMU in its first playoff game, squares off with Boise State in the Dec. 31 Fiesta Bowl.

It’s been a special year, and one Penn State fan has more on his mind than just Franklin’s team.

Ed, what a showing by the Penn State women’s volleyball team in the postseason. Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s Lions recently captured their eight national title, beating Louisville three sets to one in the national championship match at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville on Sunday.

PSU also had a memorable win in the semifinal round against Nebraska. Eight national championships, that is something Penn State fans should definitely be thankful for.

And yes, Penn State football is in the Elite Eight, joining Boise State, Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas and Arizona State. As of Friday morning, Franklin’s Lions are 11-point favorites against Boise State. A spot in the Final Four is a real possibility for Penn State.
