Rapid growth in a city has its negative and positive effects, with some struggling and others thriving with the increasing population. In order to determine the fastest local economic growth in the United States, WalletHub compared 515 cities based on their population growth and decline over a period of seven years. For Colorado, Highlands Ranch ranked as the fastest-growing city. Based on two key dimensions -- "Sociodemographics" and "Jobs & Economy" -- they then split them into point groups, with both adding up to a potential total score of 100 points.
