According to a study conducted by WalletHub, Highlands Ranch is Colorado's fastest-growing city. See where Denver, Thornton, and other cities ranked in comparison.
Rapid growth in a city has its negative and positive effects, with some struggling and others thriving with the increasing population. In order to determine the fastest local economic growth in the United States, WalletHub compared 515 cities based on their population growth and decline over a period of seven years. For Colorado, Highlands Ranch ranked as the fastest-growing city. Based on two key dimensions -- "Sociodemographics" and "Jobs & Economy" -- they then split them into point groups, with both adding up to a potential total score of 100 points. Highlands Ranch came in at No. 21 in the nation (total score of 55 points). Ranking at 13 for Sociodemographics and 223 for Jobs & Economy, Highlands Ranch beat Denver (No. 22). Denver had a score of 54.36, ranking at 28 and 70 for Sociodemographics and Jobs & Economy, respectively.

The two cities weren't the only ones to make the list. Thornton came in at No. 59, Fort Collins (No. 62), Greeley (No. 80), and Aurora (No. 86). Below is the full list of Colorado cities and their rankings:

Frisco, Texas, ranked as the fastest-growing city in America, with a total score of 76.01. At the tail end is Shreveport, Louisiana, with 17.38 points.
