BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The NCAA transfer portal opened March 24, and multiple WKU men’s basketball players have now entered their names into the portal. Freshman guard Julius Thedford was the first name that hit the portal for WKU when it opened on Monday. Also on Monday, Enoch Kalambay entered his name into the portal. Kalambay missed a small portion of game towards the end of the 2024-2025 regular season after being deemed physically and mentally unfit to travel or play. He did make his return for the final games of the regular season, and made his appearance in WKU’s solo conference tournament game. Kalambay appeared in 28 games this past season with 14 starts and averaged 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. Then on Tuesday, Mar. 25, WKU’s leading scorer for the past two seasons and 2024 Conference USA MVP, Don McHenry, entered his name into the portal. McHenry finished the 2024-2025 regular season charting as the fifth-leading scorer in CUSA with 17 points per game. McHenry and Kalambay will enter the portal as grad transfers since they were granted an extra year of eligibility due to the new JUCO ruling. Then on Mar. 26, Hilltopper power forward Babacar Faye made it official that he is also entering the portal. Faye was a huge playmaker at the power forward position that unfortunately saw his second year on the Hill get cut short after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the Murray State game. Despite a short season, Faye ended the season as the team’s second-leading scorer at 15.2 points per contest. He ed the team in average rebounding at 7.8 boards per contest, finished with the second-highest free-throw percentage on the team with a .804% (45-of-56) mark from the stripe, and finished fourth on the team in blocks with seven total for the year. Faye posted a career-high 28 points with eight rebounds, one assist, one block and a steal in the team’s season opener hosting Wichita State. He also charted double-figure scoring in eight of 10 active contests. Faye posted a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double in the team’s road victory over Evansville on Dec. 7. He was able to get the year back after only playing in 10 games due to a medical redshirt, and will have one year of eligibility remaining. WBKO Sports will continue to monitor the transfer portal and provide updates.
