Home Instead, an at-home care provider that has operated for 10 years, was founded by Tom and Tana Catron out of Mitchell. In June, the Catrons opened an office at 810 South Maple St. in Watertown, which serves as headquarters for all of the company's clients throughout northeastern South Dakota.

The new branch acts as a centralized office for all of northeastern South Dakota and manages all professional care in the area.

“We decided to open an office in Watertown to better suit the needs of our growing clients. Our main office is in Mitchell, but the territory that we now cover spans from Sioux Falls, up to the North Dakota border, over to Minnesota, and towards the middle of the state as well,” said Blake Minsaas, the manager of the Watertown branch.

Home Instead offers a variety of senior care services, most notably, the support people need to remain at home when staying at home no longer seems like an option or extra help is needed to do so. Home Instead aims to keep loved ones comfortable in the home while also providing specialized care for its clients.

“We offer personal care, housekeeping, and companionship/respite care to those in need," Minsaas said. "We take everything from private pay, Medicaid, to VA benefits."

The business also offers Alzheimer’s and dementia care where caregivers provide a safe, constructive space in which clients may participate in memory-strengthening activities. Meanwhile, professional caregivers concentrate on the specific needs of clients with cognitive impairments. In-home hospice care is also an option and Home Instead ensures comfort, pain management, and emotional support for the patient and family.

"Our caregivers live in and around the communities we serve to best cover a larger footprint, so that our clients and families can rest assured that their loved ones are taken care of at all times,” said Minsaas.

While there is not an office presence in Aberdeen, Home Instead’s Watertown branch offers services to Aberdeen and the surrounding area.

“That is the goal, to help as many as we can stay home and be happy with their care,” said Minsaas.

Home Instead can be reached from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 605-878-3330.
