WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - This Memorial Day, the Greater Wichita YMCA is hosting the global 2025 Murph Challenge , a workout and tribute honoring U.S. Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who gave his life in Afghanistan in 2005.

The Murph Challenge is a test of physical endurance and mental toughness, echoing the grit required in military service. Participants complete the following: a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and a final 1-mile run. The use of a weighted vest is optional. YMCA membership is not required, everyone is welcome.

The Murph Challenge takes place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at both the Northwest YMCA and Andover YMCA locations. The opening ceremony begins at 7:50 AM , and the workout kicks off at 8:00 AM .
