Multiple Colorado resorts are offering deals and discounts for first-time skiers in celebration of January's "Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month."

You love living in Colorado. But the idea of skiing and snowboarding? Maybe it's daunting. Expensive. Scary. A hassle. That's why January -- "Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month" -- is the best time to take the bull by the horns, er, the ski poles by the handles. Four resorts in Colorado are offering special deals for ski and snowboard novices in the month of January: Arapahoe Basin's beginner package deal is actually available all season long (in celebration of the resort's 70th year) and "includes a half-day class lesson, a full-day all-mountain lift ticket, and a sport rental package (including helmet) for $125." Such a bargain! Click here for more information. At Crested Butte, adult beginners (age 15 and up) score 50 percent off their ski and snowboard rental equipment when they make a reservation for a full-day Adult Beginner Ski Adventure Lesson. A full-day adult lift ticket is also included. Click here to reserve your spot!
Steamboat is offering a two-day all-inclusive Learn to Ski/Ride Package (anyone ages 1st grade and up), for just $250, from January 6 through January 31. That gets you two days of lessons, lift tickets, and equipment rentals. Click here for full details! Sunlight’s deal might be the best of all. Their “Learn to Shine" program features "three days of 2-hour lessons, equipment rental and lift tickets, plus, a free five-day ski pass once lessons have been completed .... Cost is $395." The free five-day ski pass -- worth hundred of dollars -- is the clincher there! Click here for more info. In addition to all the available January discounts, the Bring a Friend Weekend promotion, January 5-7, offers product prizes for anyone who helps a newbie sign up for lessons. And the Learn to Ski and Snowboard website has tons of helpful tips for beginners -- from how to dress for the sport to how to save money. You'll have everything you need to walk you through your first skiing experience!
So now you have no excuse not to go shred the pow-pow. Get out there and see what all the fun and hype is about! Are you a pro? Have any helpful advice for first-time skiers and snowboarders? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Happy "Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month"!
