LAUREL, Md. (7News) — A driver was arrested after recklessly breaching barriers and driving into the crowd at the Main Street Festival, according to Laurel Police Department officials. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Kai Deberry-Bostick of Laurel, Maryland, was stopped before injuring anyone in the crowd, police said. Deberry-Bostick disregarded multiple warnings from police not to drive through closed roads at a local festival, body camera video shows. Despite officers' commands, she insisted on leaving the area to go to work. Body-worn camera footage released by officials shows an officer interacting with the woman before she removed the yellow tape and drove away. During the encounter, an officer offered to call her a taxi, but she refused the assistance. As she drove off, an officer could be heard repeatedly shouting, "Stop" and "Get out of the car." One officer sustained minor injuries after being struck by her vehicle. Earlier in the day, an unrelated propane explosion caused the parade portion of the festival to be cancelled. After deliberations, the city decided to start the festival at 11 a.m.
