Carey Booth is the first Illinois men's basketball player to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-10 sophomore forward becomes the first Fighting Illini player from the 2024-25 roster to transfer, according to 247sports.com. Booth, who played his freshman season at Notre Dame, appeared in 21 games for Illinois in the 2024-25 season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds in just 5.2 minutes per game. Following the 2023-24 season, six Illini players entered the transfer portal. The Illini picked up four transfers last offseason, including Booth.
