FBI agents in Chicago raided a residence Thursday as investigators attempt to piece together what led to the deadly shooting of two Israeli embassy staff members in Washington D.C. The couple were shot as they left an event at a Jewish museum. Authorities said the suspect, 31-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, had been observed pacing outside the museum before the shooting. Rodriguez was charged Thursday with two counts of first degree murder. For the second month in a row, the unemployment rate decreased in 11 metro areas in Illinois. According to data released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the Metro East area reached a record low unemployment rate for April at 2.9% while the Bloomington and Champaign-Urbana metro areas had an unemployment rate at 2.8%. The unemployment rate remains over 5% in the Chicago metro area. The state of Illinois has reached a settlement with the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago to resolve violations of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act. The federal Clean Water Act regulates cooling water intake structures because they withdraw large volumes of water into a building’s cooling system, pulling in fish and other aquatic life with it. Officials said fish and other aquatic organisms can also get trapped against intake screens.
