HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Hoosiers looking to purchase a used car may not have to look far to get a good price, according to a new study from vehicle issue platform AutoTechIQ. According to data compiled using pre-owned car listings online, Indiana has the fifth-lowest average cost for a used car in the nation at $28,213.04. All states surrounding Indiana had second-hand vehicles priced higher on average, except Ohio with an average price of $26,605.15. The study also named Indianapolis as the city with the state’s cheapest used cars, with an average price of $26,545.85. However, Evansville was named as the most expensive city to purchase a used vehicle with an average of $32,258.65, which is more expensive than 36 statewide averages. The state with the cheapest used cars in the nation was Washington, with an average price of $24,672.96; and the most expensive was Alaska, where a used car’s average cost is $35,486.97.
