IOWA PARK, Texas (KAUZ) -The community of Iowa Park spent Saturday morning celebrating the complete product of its fire and police department. Before the innovation project, first responders shared a facility that was nearly half the size of the new buildings for decades. At the ribbon cutting, city officials and first responders share just how the new facilities help better serve the community of Iowa Park. “People who want to come to town, they’re going to need attractions. They’re going to look at the schools if they have little kids; they’re going to look at the stations we have. We have good stations. We have a good police station, good fire protection. I’m telling you our police protection and our fire protection, we’ve had to use them both personally, are second to none,” Iowa Park Mayor Jeff Pogatshnik said. The fire chief shared his excitement about being in a new facility to better serve the community, sharing that the department will no longer have to make adjustments to house equipment. “Mayor talked a little while ago, the building that we were in, we outgrew it completely. We had to special-order our fire trucks to fit in the station. We’re not going to have or need it fits,” Iowa Park Fire Chief Andy Payne said. City officials said the changes that are being implemented in the city are aimed at serving the community for generations to come.
