While horror stories abound on traffic nightmares across the country, which commutes wind up being the best?

According to a survey of 3,105 driver s by Quantrell Volvo , who were asked to share the commutes they love the most, three from Connecticut made the list.

The first from the Nutmeg state is the New Haven to Hartford commute via I-91, which ranked 58th overall. According to Quantrell Volvo, the scenic commute follows the Connecticut River with lush trees lining the highway. The drive is especially picturesque in the fall, when the foliage is changing colors. Coupled with the glimpses of historic towns and river views, maybe this commute has its perks after all.

Next up for Connecticut is the Stamford to New York City commute via I-95 and Metro-North Railroad, according to Quantrell Volvo: “While traffic on I-95 can be unpredictable, the Metro-North Railroad offers a smooth and scenic alternative, taking commuters along Connecticut’s beautiful coastline. Whether driving or taking the train, this route provides stunning views of the Long Island Sound, charming seaside towns, and the sparkling skyline of Manhattan as it comes into view. The combination of coastal beauty and the excitement of entering the Big Apple makes this one of the most desirable commutes in the region.”

Lastly, Connecticut’s Westport to Stamford commute via the Merritt Parkway ranked 109th overall. According to Quantrell Volvo, it is one of the most scenic roadways in the country, with lush greenery, rolling hills, and stone-arch bridges. Like with the New Haven to Hartford commute, the change of seasons offers a vibrant mix of foliage.

What about the most enjoyable commute nationally? Unsurprisingly, it comes from Hawaii: Kailua to Honolulu via Pali HIghway, HI-61, according to Quantrell Volvo. The drive starts on Oahu’s Windward side, pulling you through the Ko’olau Mountains. Heading down to Honolulu, the road opens to views of the city and the Pacific, coupled with the misty cliffs, rainforests, and ocean views.

“These drives show there’s more to a commute than just getting from point A to point B,” said Brentley Jones of Quantrell Volvo “They’re reminders of how a great route can turn your day around – suddenly, you’re not just heading to work, you’re taking the scenic way there.”
