A Florida man wanted on a felony charge was arrested by Ithaca police on Monday afternoon after officers tracked his vehicle to a location on South Meadow Street.

According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers identified a vehicle in the 400 block of S. Meadow Street around 4:48 p.m. that was linked to a fugitive from Marion County, Florida. Upon investigation, they confirmed that the wanted individual was in the area.

The suspect, 28-year-old William John Vanderan Robinson, was wanted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for felony battery by strangulation. He was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive from justice.

Robinson was arraigned in Ithaca City Court by Judge Wallace and is being held at the Tompkins County Jail. He will remain there until the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arranges his extradition back to Florida.
