TOPEKA, Kan. ( WIBW /Gray News) - A World War II veteran in Kansas is celebrating a milestone birthday this week as he turns 100 years old.

Bob O’Shea spent his birthday surrounded by his family at Lexington Park Assisted Living in Topeka.

Among his family members was Joan, his wife of 74 years. Together, the couple has four children, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

O’Shea served with the Marines during World War II and still exercises daily.

”(I) got an exercise machine. I use that every day. I exercise every day,” he said. “I always walked (to) the Post Office when I was home. I walked all of the time. Walked the garden, walked all of the time. But, stay active. It’ll keep you going longer. It really will.”

O’Shea enjoyed cake and balloons on Monday and he also had a larger family party on Easter Sunday.
