The Jacksonville Jaguars' offense is showing progress in the new-look system under Liam Coen.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were back on the practice field on Tuesday for their fourth practice of OTAs, the second of which was open to the media. As one would expect, as the offense gets more live reps in the new system, the practices are becoming cleaner.

“I thought (the day went) better than probably expected, that way in terms of bodies on the ground and practicing cleaner," Coen said after practice, via Big Cat Country. "It was much cleaner than day one, let’s just say. When you’re just trying to come in and get it going again after a few days off, I thought it was definitely cleaner. Was it perfect? No, but I thought it was better than the previous Monday, if you will.”

As Coen would describe following the Jaguars ' first OTA practice last Monday, which included a few interceptions and the ball being put on the ground multiple times, the offense is still in the "learning phase," and "working towards playing in September."

Of course, Coen wants to see the players compete and wants every play executed cleanly, but more so right now, he's evaluating mental errors, communication, formations, alignments, assignments, and technique because if the basics can't be executed properly, then the play is all but doomed.

As Trevor Lawrence mentioned after last week's practice , he really likes Coen's offense, specifically that it has all the answers. However, he also mentioned that it puts a lot on the players' plates, and with that, can come a steep learning curve.

"I really like it," Lawrence said . "It has a lot of answers. It's great. It puts a lot on the players, you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers."

It's one thing to learn the playbook on paper and know what to do correctly in the meeting rooms. It's entirely different, however, to be able to replicate all of that on the field when everything is moving incredibly fast and the defense is presenting the offense with different looks.

Like anything that is new, the more reps the Jaguars' offense gets, the more productive they'll be.
