The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has apprehended a man after he allegedly posted threats on social media against ICE protesters. Zachary Degross, 26, is accused of stating he would use a tow truck to "plow through" demonstrators who were protesting the deportation of undocumented immigrants. This comment was brought to the attention of authorities on Tuesday, as reported by First Coast News . According to News4JAX , Degross's alleged post was explicit in its violent content: “Look as a Jacksonville resident of I see any large gatherings to protest ice I’m going to grab my buddies tow truck and plow through every ignant, un-american swine I see protestong [sic] the deportation of ILLEGAL immigrants, since you believe in them so much why do you go with.” Upon receiving a tip regarding the social media comment, JSO's Intelligence Unit tracked the account back to Degross. After executing an interview on Wednesday at his residence, detectives deemed they had sufficient evidence to arrest Degross on charges of sending written threats to conduct an act of terrorism, a serious second-degree felony. As conveyed by Action News Jax , Degross submitted to the interview willingly, where the incriminating post was discussed in detail. Following the arrest, JSO urged the public to remain vigilant and report any online threats of violence. Online jail records indicate that Degross was still in custody at the Duval County jail as of late Wednesday afternoon.
