A Jacksonville neighborhood was disrupted by gunfire yesterday afternoon, leaving one man injured in what is being described as a sudden and unprovoked attack. According to News4Jax , officers were dispatched to the Magnolia Gardens area following reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival at a residence on Vernon Road at around 5:30 p.m., they discovered a man in his 30s with two gunshot wounds in the front yard.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly outside with another family member when the assailant, coming from the backyard, began firing. During the gunfire, as reported by First Coast News , police believe the suspect jumped a fence prior to entering the yard and managed to escape on foot, with it's unclear whether a vehicle was later involved.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported the victim to the hospital in stable condition after he sustained wounds to the elbow and hip. In a statement obtained by News4Jax , the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) informed that the accompanying family member was not injured and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

While a clear motive has yet to be established, authorities are actively examining shell casings found at the scene and reviewing neighborhood surveillance footage. The incident, which prompted a manhunt for the masked gunman, resulted in no other homes being hit by the stray rounds. According to Action News Jax , the JSO emphasizes that this shooting does not seem to be connected to another event that was reported earlier the same day.

As detectives continue to piece together the events that led to this violent encounter, the search for the shooter remains ongoing.
