The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of 20-year-old Devonne Rivers in connection to a double murder that occurred over a year ago on Garden Street in Jacksonville. Rivers, who was already detained at the Duval County Jail on an unrelated attempted murder charge, now faces two counts of second-degree murder related to the deaths of Anton Brown, 40, and Travis Williams, 45. According to First Coast News , the bodies of Brown and Williams were discovered inside a vehicle exhibiting multiple bullet holes on April 7, 2024. Law enforcement officials responded to reports of a car obstructing the road in the 7000 block area of Garden Street last year, where they found the two men shot to death. The investigation led by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office subsequently pointed to Rivers as the perpetrator, as mentioned by Action News Jax . Rivers, who was arrested in December for his involvement in what law enforcement described as an "ambush" in Arlington, has now been additionally charged with the two murders. In the Arlington incident, a victim was reported to have been shot multiple times. For that case, Rivers currently faces charges including attempted murder, shooting or throwing deadly missiles into a vehicle, and armed trespassing. This information was obtained through the records from the Duval County Jail, per First Coast News . The double murder case, which took place in the Dinsmore area on Jacksonville’s Northside, shook the community last year. Details of Rivers' arrest were first noted by the News4Jax report. At present, Rivers is awaiting further proceedings as the judicial process continues to unfold around this high-profile case.
