This week has been nuts with the weather from multiple cancellations to mid game postponements our high school playoffs are all out of whack but some teams were able to sneak in their games tonight and the craziest storyline of those squads being Jacksonville Baseball who hosted a third round game as a 21 seed.

Against 29th seeded North Brunswick who entered the postseason with just 7 wins unreal the Scorpions in the third inning found success from #2 Ryan Grisso with a shot through the hole into left for an RBI single it got worse from there for the Cardinals as Dylan stacks packed this ball into a suitcase heading far and heading out of here for a 3 RBI bomb to put the Scorpions up 4–0 in the top of the third Jacksonville stunned as the blow up hammer came out to play but right when North Brunswick was starting to have fun the rain and lightning came again forcing this game to resume tomorrow at 6:00 bummer.

Over in Beaufort 26–0 East Carteret hoping to continue the dream season against 13th seed Midway where the defense looked good for the Mariners as Luke McIntosh dove for a nice catch even the Seagull overhead had to give him some props but the raiders stole an underdog victory at 4 -seed Ayden Grifton last week and decided to do the same today shutting out East 4–0 ending the Mariners incredible 2025 season.

So three games will happen tomorrow, Pinecrest at DH Conley, and South Brunswick at JH Rose for a 6:00 start, then at 7:00 South Lenoir and Whiteville will resume their game.

In softball 6-seed South Lenoir traveled to Martin County where bases loaded Izzy Williams with a center field beauty dropping just in front of the outfielder for an RBI single Gators score 3 in the third led 3–1 over the Blue Devils then how about this catch and throw out by cant tell who it is but excellent toss as chomp chomp Gators win 7–1 to move to the 4th round.

Bear Grass hoping to join the Gators in round 4 but after an 8–1 lead in the third the weather delay hit the Lady Bears showed off their fake tattoos flirted with our photog and will resume play Thursday at 5:00.

The only other team to get their game in was North Lenoir on the road upsetting 7-seed Camden County 5–4 and will head to Martin County for the 4th round.

In girls soccer get this 5 seed Jacksonville had to play on the road at 28-seed white oak with Cardinal lacrosse at home didn't matter #11 Lexie Beckes with a nifty move inside and one swing of the foot and she buried it cards up 2–0 Michael Larose trying to figure out how to stop Jaxe's high powered offense but the Vikings had no answers for Madison Haigler on the header as the Cardinals blanked White Oak 6–0 to cruise to round 2.

As for the rest, Swansboro snuck by Southern Lee 2–1, North Duplin on the road at Neuse charter Thursday at 3:30, then at 6:00 tomorrow Tim Guter and New Bern head up to DH Conley.

In boys lacrosse at Bobby Simpson Field between 16 seed Jacksonville and 17 seed Eastern Alamance where.

Logan skipper straight gas to the net to tie 3–3 against the Eagles Skippin and drippin as the crowd was getting back into it then Braxton Racine shimmy shake and bake and a slingshot into the net to take the lead late in the game Aidan Hart showing off the hustle and heart causing the turnover leading to another Logan skipper score as the Cardinals won to advance 18–16.

And the only other boys game to happen was Swansboro at Havelock Rams took the rivalry in an 11–8 win to advance to take on 3-seed Seaforth next.

The bird Dawgs had kids day for the Lenoir County schools to come and watch at Grainger Stadium where down East 0–2 on the year showed a little rust after two straight rain cancellations Tyler Blaums throw out to third just a tad outside as the Jackals led 3–0 but the T-shirt toss got the little munchkins back on their feet making noise despite the deficit it continued with a base knock just over the glove of the bird Dawgs 2nd baseman for an RBI as even a Brian North appearance couldn't draw a comeback falling 8–3the biggest optimist of all was in attendance you love him Brian North hoping the Dawgs could turn it around down East found some late success at the plate with a couple singles Yassel Pino hit a solo home run to make it 5–3 in the 8th inning but the Jackals blasted a 3 run bomb in the 9th to keep down East winless in an 8–3 midweek loss.
