In a one-round 2025 NFL mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars trade back and get Trevor Lawrence and the offense an additional weapon.

Using Pro Football Focus' mock draft simulator, I ran into a scenario with the fifth overall pick where Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, and Mason Graham, were all off the board. At this point, trading back felt like the best option for the Jaguars .

So in a swap with New Orleans, the Jaguars moved from pick No. 5 to pick No. 9 and landed the Saints ' second-round pick at 40th overall in the process. In this scenario, the Jaguars now have 11 draft picks, including five picks in the top 100.

So, at pick No. 9, who did I select? Well, I went a bit off script compared to most mock drafts and couldn't pass up adding the do-it-all tight end Tyler Warren, who could be a massive weapon in Liam Coen's offense. We've heard both Coen and Grant Udinski highlight the importance of the offense being "multiple." Well, adding Warren to the mix enhances that ability.

Last season, Warren totaled over 1,200 receiving yards, but he brings a very well-rounded skill set to the NFL. He can line up anywhere in the formation--including in the backfield--and is a very capable blocker as well.

That do-it-all ability at the tight end position can do wonders for an offense, specifically, adding a layer of unpredictability to that unit. When a tight end can wear a variety of hats, it becomes more difficult to decipher pre-snap what might be coming.

Lawrence is a three-down tight end, able to provide Lawrence with another pass-catching presence, but he's also someone who can assist in the run game, which is going to be a crucial element in Coen's offense.

During GM James Gladstone's NFL Combine press conference, he hinted at the Jaguars potentially adding to their pass-catching position.

"I think it starts with the protection," said Gladstone about Lawrence. "Making sure that he feels like he's got as much time to work with as possible and also making sure that he's comfortable with the pass catchers, and I think through that lens he's going to feel that change in both the operation schematically and the personnel we invite into the building."

No, tight end isn't a top need for the Jaguars, but with as many picks as they have, Gladstone has the ability in this scenario to address other needs and move around further if needed.
