Uniqlo is the latest company to reveal plans to open a new store at Bethesda’s Pike and Rose development.

Bethesda’s premier shopping, workspace, residential, entertainment, and dining destination has yet another widely popular company planning to move in. Uniqlo, the maker of trendy clothes made with custom fabrics, will be opening an 8,000-square-foot store within the Pike and Rose Development in the fall of this year. Uniqlo will join other major retailers like LL Bean and Nike, and will offer a full selection of its unique “LifeWear” items, which have given the company the image and reputation as being “the Japanese Gap.” Uniqlo is first Maryland's location, and once up and running, the store will be the company’s fourth in the D.C area. Currently Uniqlo has 1,900 stores worldwide, which are gaining clientele as famous people, athletes, and celebrities have started to wear the company's products. Last year, professional wheelchair tennis player and Paralympics gold medal winner Gordon Reid became a brand ambassador for the company, joining Aussie golfer Adam Scott, top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic, among others, who have endorsed Uniqlo’s latest sports gear. Those unfamiliar with the brand may be surprised to find out that Uniqlo’s clothing items are not insanely expensive, despite being one of hottest new companies. A men’s denim jacket for example is currently on sale on for $29.99, while a pair of Men’s Kando Pants -- endorsed by Adam Scott -- are only $39.99. Not bad considering how expensive major retailer brands can be, especially since one of Uniqlo’s Pike and Rose neighbors will be Porsche. If you want to do some window shopping in anticipation of the grand opening later this year, checkout Uniqlo’s website. Have you shopped at a Uniqlo store before? If so, what did you think?
