Jerry Greenlaw of Alexandria won the Shamrock Marathon championship Sunday morning in Virginia Beach. The 37-year-old finished in 2 hours, 27 minutes, 28 seconds, to win by more than six minutes. He averaged 5:37 per mile.

Virginia Beach runners placed second and third: 22-year-old Ethan Renager (2:33:01) and 46-year-old Ben Livesey (2:34:46).

Thousands of runners, supporters and passers-by celebrated in a festive atmosphere around the city, with the finish line at the oceanfront.

Staci Huelat, 37, of Wellington, Florida, won the women’s marathon at 2:55:00, beating Liv Paxton, 26, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, by 56 seconds. Huelat averaged 6:40 per mile.

In the half-marathon, David Gregory, 29, of Virginia Beach won the men’s title in 1:10:43, topping Stuart Vailes, 24, of Waynesboro by about seven seconds. Annabel Stafford, 23, of North Grafton, Massachusetts, won the women’s half marathon in 1:16:12, 68 seconds faster than Annie Wheating, 28, of Longmont, Colorado.
