PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Parkersburg South senior Jetta Wright will be heading to Morgantown as she is signing with West Virginia University to be a part of the cheer team.

She was selected for the Mountaineers’ Blue team for the 2025-26 season.

Wright said she chose WVU because she was impressed with their cheerleading and she has expressed interest in being a part of a co-ed squad.

She believes it will be a challenge having to balance cheering for the Mountaineers and school.

Wright talked about how she looks to have an influence on the cheer team when she arrives in Morgantown.

“I hope to make an impact by just going out there, trying my best, being my best, and hopefully inspiring other girls here,” said Wright. “Showing them that they can do it, especially my teammates here. I want to be an inspiration to them cause they all have just as much potential as I did and they’re all great.”
