Joe Bryant, a former NBA player and the father of Kobe Bryant, has died. He was 69 years old.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Joe recently suffered a massive stroke and was battling other health issues. However, an official cause of Bryant's death has not been announced. La Salle University, where Bryant played and coached, said that Bryant "was a beloved member of the Explorer family and will be dearly missed."
Joe, also known as "Jellybean," was a first-round pick to the Golden State Warriors in 1975 before playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers, and Houston Rockets.
Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, as well as seven others, died in a tragic helicopter accident in January 2020.
