COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A federal judge has blocked any further action by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) against an international student at USC.

Officials with the American Civil Liberties Union say the judge’s ruling will allow Matthew Ariwoola to remain in the country while challenging the constitutionality of the government’s actions against him.

The ACLU filed a lawsuit on behalf of Ariwoola and other students who had their status revoked without explanation.

Matthew Ariwoola is from Nigeria pursuing a doctorate in chemistry.
